Friday thoughts and notes!
Well it has been an exciting week here in the world of Newman (managed to finally get script looked at and approved by both halves of my personality, both critical and artistic seem to have symbiosis for a while!) And the shop seems to be going well, along with the targeted but slow burning advert campaign.
Anyways enough back slapping aside,
What happened with Christian Bale, flip out good or bad, the internet is divided. Coming from the more reserved style of thought, (more Roger Moore than Nicolas Cage is my preferred stance of behaviour.) I understand the fact that he’s angry and that is ok my friends, but the duration of the shouting makes me feel a little perturbed and disappointed. I think it’s a key to his emotional state that actors engage when acting…is that excusable though I don’t quite know. Just cos he’s famous doesn’t give him (or shouldn’t allow him) the right to act like that.
A good friend of mind reminded me that not all aggression is as open and honest as this tirade by Christian Bale. He is angry yes, but his anger is directed at the person who caused it an noone else. My mate suggested I show a video of Meg Ryan (America’s Lesely Ash? - erm just google it) She is an expert at being passive aggressive as this video shows in a classic interview on UK TV. For those in the states this is always quoted on Top 50 embarrassing TV moments in the UK. Not all anger is loud remember that....this is part one of the event......
Thanks for all the comments on Taken review. Its not high art as we have all recognised, but it is a solid film that does not pretend to be anything other than it is. Its nice to see Neeson out Bauer all those around him.
I am famously overjoyed that Martin Campbell may be helming the long gestating Green Lantern project. I have been a massive fan of the director, long since before he started in the cinema and was working on British TV. Early work showed his promise, and the re-inventor of the Bond franchise. (Goldeneye and Casino Royale) is a testament to his skill. I guess we can forgive him Zorro…..!
One of the most underrated works of his is the interesting “No Escape”, starring Ray Liotta in one of the actor’s only real jumps into straight action. Good movie, and although a little dated is available cheaply in most DVD stores, and is a good watch. (Brit actor fans will love Wycliffe’s role!)
Thanks for the regular visits and bookmarking! Have a great weekend and speak soon

Wow, Parky is a rude jerk. No wonder Meg Ryan reacted hostile.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog about The Bucket List. I've enjoyed reading through your blog also, especially some of the post regarding actors who did great work but have passed on.
No Escape is one of my all time favorite movies. It may be a little dated but it's still a classic.
ReplyDeleteAbout Bale, heard and read it the other day. I was like: OK, calm down. His rage was kind of insane tbh, but hey he's human too.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on John Stamos Fever about He's Just Not That Into You. It doesn't make my top 5 list of Chick Flicks, but it wasn't half bad. Keep up the good work my friend.
